College Football Opening Lines Report

Stats are becoming more relevant and, by now, oddsmakers have had a chance to put almost every team to the eye test. 

But there was still some significant early moves on the Week 6 Sportsbook spreads.

Ball State opened as 1-point home favorite, but the visiting Huskies were giving 2.5 as of Monday morning.

Northern Illinois have won 10 of 15 against the Cardinals, including the last three by an average margin of 15.6 points per game. Last season’s game, however, came down to the wire, with Northern Illinois prevailing 41-38 at home.

Northern Illinois is 8-7 ATS in the last 15 against Ball State.
 

Fade the Fighting Illini has emerged as a popular and profitable betting strategy this season. The Badgers, coming off a deflating loss at Nebraska, opened as 11.5-point favorites, but received early money and were laying more than two touchdowns as of Monday morning.

The Illini got pummeled at home, 35-7, by Penn State.

Illinois has lost 6 of the last 7 against Wisconsin, but is 4-3 ATS in those meetings.

The Horned Frogs opened as 14.5-point favorites over Iowa State. The line was down to TCU -11.5 as of Monday morning.

In a battle of initials, the visiting Mustangs opened as 2.5-point favorites. But the line quickly went across the fence, making the Miners 2.5-point favorites as of Monday morning.

UTEP has won 4 of six against the Ponys and is 10-5 against the spread in the last 15 meetings.

After seeing Hawaii get plowed by BYU on Friday, bettors were eager to fade the Warriors against San Diego State. The host Aztecs opened as 16-point favorites, but were up to -19.5 as of Monday.

Hawaii lost 47-0 at BYU, managing just 147 total yards. The Aztecs put up 40 points in a loss to Fresno State.
