Dylan Raiola's Cornhuskers are favored in the Colorado vs Nebraska odds

Colorado vs Nebraska Odds & Picks Week 2: Cornhuskers To Shuck The Buffaloes

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are a 7.5-point favorite when they host the Colorado Buffaloes at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln here in Week 2.

Both teams come in off winning efforts, with 'Braska (-27.5) smothering Utep, 40-7 and Colorado (-11.5) squeezing past North Dakota State, 31-26. Are we gonna go with with the 'Golden Ruhle,' or is it Coach Prime that will bring home the cash?

Nebraska vs Colorado picks -- Week 2

Both teams posted Ws last week, with Nebraska getting an easy breezy afternoon against a lousy Utep squad. But the results in Lincoln, especially from freshman QB Dylan Raiola, were solid.

Getting to Nebraska wasn't that easy for Raiola. He originally committed to Ohio State, reopened his recruitment, committed to Georgia, then flipped to Nebraska. And head coach Matt Ruhle is happy to have him. Raiola hit on 19-of-27 for 238 yards last week, with two TDs and zero INTs.

If you're wondering why so few passes, Ruhle is very strong on the running game. The Huskers had 47 rushes for 223 yards, and if you have not checked, Colorado gives up plenty of yards on the ground. Last season, the Buffs ranked No. 110 in the country in rushing defense, OUCH, giving up over 176 yards per game.

North Dakota State rushed for 157 yards last week and when they see the size of Nebraska's corn fed big boys up front on the offensive line, it ain't gonna be pretty.

Of course, Colorado has the super stud QB Shedeur Sanders running the show, and he was magnificent last week (26-of-34 for 445 yards and 4 TDs). The sad part is, the Buffs have no running game. They scratched out only 59 yards against the Bison and it'll be just as tough against Nebraska.

Last season, these two squads banged helmets in Boulder and the Buffaloes (-2.5) rocked the party with a 36-14 win. Sadly, the Cornhuskers didn't really have a capable QB. If anyone out there remembers Jeff Sims, Heinrich Haarberg or Chubba Purdy at QB for Nebraska, you're watching WAY TOO MUCH FOOTBALL! But we're thinking that this kid Raiola is gonna be special.

Nebraska vs Colorado Week 2 Pick: Not sure that the Cornhuskers are all the way back so covering seven and a hook might be an issue, which is why we got 'Braska on the money line at -250 at FanDuel.

Colorado vs Nebraska Prop Pick: Travis Hunter Anytime TD (-115)

This ain't the NBA, but Colorado is basically playing a two man game with Sheduer Sanders and Travis Hunter. Last week, this dynamic duo was on fire, and Hunter collected three TDs. At -115, he should be good for at least one in Lincoln.

Also like the total to go OVER 58.5. Nebraska scored 40 points last week and Colorado put up 31. And you know that these two teams don't like each other, which is why neither squad is gonna take their foot off the gas.

Also want some action early on in the game so gimme Nebraska -1.5 points to win the 1st Q as well.

Colorado vs Nebraska betting trends

  • Nebraska coach Matt Ruhle was a combined 8-28 in his first year of coaching at Temple, Baylor and Nebraska, but 44-23 in the following years. This is year two and the tide is about to turn RED!
  • Nebraska has covered only three of the last 10 games
  • Colorado has covered six of the last eight as an underdog
