Gators Have Owned Bulldogs Since Turn of Millennium
One of the longest-standing rivalries in college football will resume Saturday when the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs meet at EverBank Field in Jacksonville in their annual Southeastern Conference battle. The Gators have owned this matchup since the turn of the millennium as they are 11-5 since 2000 and have beaten the Bulldogs in two straight years.
This rivalry match is one of the last remaining college football games that’s played at a neutral site so home and away stats and metrics can pretty much be thrown out the window. That said, there are definitely some trends to keep in mind heading into this game – like the Bulldogs’ 8-2 ATS record in their last 10 games after losing and their 6-1 straight-up record in their last seven after losing as a favorite.
The OddsShark computer expects a close one as it’s predicting that Florida will edge out Georgia by a point for their 43rd win in the matchup between the two schools. The Gators will most likely head into this game laying more than a point so a Bulldogs bet to cover the spread is looking like a decent one.
Georgia is not a great passing team and will be facing the No. 2 pass defense in the nation this week so it’s likely the Bulldogs go run-heavy. They have been an incredible UNDER bet the last two seasons as the total has failed to eclipse the OVER in 11 of their last 14 games and if both teams run the ball like I’m expecting them to, this game could go UNDER with a bullet.
