The No. 25 Colorado Buffaloes look to dust themselves off after having their College Football Playoff hopes dashed last week as they return home as 16.5-point favorites against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Bet365 has also set the total at a lofty 65 points for this matchup in Boulder.
Gotta go back end of the 2016 season for the last time these two teams matched up. It was in the Alamo Bowl and Oklahoma State (+3) smoked Colorado 38-8. Mike Gundy was on the headset for that game, but Coach Prime was still working in the NFL as a cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens.

Can I just say that my Thanksgiving feast was intoxicating! Turkey/cranberry sauce/stuffing/mashed potatoes/sweet potato pie/cream corn/apple pie/cherry pie/pumpkin pie/tiramisu with glass of Bailey's Irish Cream chaser. Why use the word intoxicating? After the loss to Kansas, Coach Prime said, "We started smelling ourselves a little bit. We got intoxicated with the success. We got intoxicated with the multitude of articles, and the assumption that we’re this, and the assumption that we’re that, and we did not play CU football."
The Buffaloes (No. 25) are sitting way outside the top 12 teams that will make the playoffs and even with a win, the committee AIN'T taking a three loss team from the Big 12. So, the question is, how much does Colorado want this game? Of course, the Buffs would like to end the season with a W and go to a prestigious bowl game, but asking them to cover 16.5 could be an issue.
Shedeur Sanders is having a moment and if I was at the draft table, he would be my FIRST QB off the board. Coach Prime's kid has been magnificent, hitting 303 of 413 for 73.4%. He has 3,488 air yards with 30 TDs and just 7 INTs. And Oklahoma State is a team that's gonna give up some points. Actually GOBS of points. The Cowboys have let in 56 points, 38, 42 and 38 in the last four games. But they're also gonna put some points on the board. Starting QB Alan Bowman had an issue with the re-occurrence of a partially collapsed lung. Ouch. So Oklahoma State put freshman QB Maealiuaki Smith under center at the end of the game against TCU and he hit on 6 of 8 for 92 yards.
Smith got his first start against Texas Tech last week, and was very impressive. He connected on 26 of 35 (74.3%) for 316 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Colorado will give up some points and Maealiuaki, pronounced 'MY-ə-LÉE-ü-WALK-ee,' should be good for a few TDs.
Then we have to say a few words about the the guy across the field on the other headset, Mike Gundy, who could be coaching his last game after 20 years as the head of Xs & Os in Stillwater. Gundy has been on quite a ride and until this season, has never had a losing record.
But 2024 has been a disaster. Ok State has lost eight in a row and Gundy is under fire from all sides. But the MULLET, the guy who had the famous "Come after me! I'm a man! I'm forty!" rant when one of his players caught some heat from a local newspaper. So, if this actually is Gundy's farewell, ya gotta think that his kids are gonna be JACKED and fight to give the MULLET a going away W. Of course, if you're shopping around, try and buy the hook to +17, which is a key betting number on the spread charts.
