TCU Owns SMU Straight up But Struggles ATS
The Iron Skillet will once again be up for grabs as the Horned Frogs make the trip from Fort Worth to Dallas to take on the Mustangs at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Friday. TCU is on a four-game win streak against SMU and will be the massive favorite coming into the 96th meeting of these teams.
Southern Methodist has had a rough couple of years under Chad Morris and is just 4-11 under the second-year man. The Mustangs are 2-1 this season and have covered the spread in all three of their games. Their only loss was an expected one against Baylor but they followed it up with a strong win and cover at North Texas.
TCU has not covered a spread yet this season and the trends are not in its favor to break that streak this weekend. The Horned Frogs are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against the AAC and SMU is 4-1 ATS in its last five home games after a win at home. TCU’s offense has been fairly potent as it’s scored an average of 46 points per game this year, but it’s been the Horned Frogs’ defense that’s failed them as it’s given up an average of 34 points per game. The D will have to tighten up if bettors hope to cash TCU spread tickets this weekend.
For total bettors, five of TCU’s last seven games against teams with winning records have gone OVER and the Horned Frogs have put up huge scorelines against SMU in recent matchups as they’ve averaged 53.3 points against the Mustangs in their last three meetings.
