Texas A&M Aggies featured in our Aggies vs South Carolina preview

Texas A&M vs South Carolina Odds & Picks Week 10: Aggies To Wear Down Gamecocks

Who’s the only unbeaten SEC team in conference play? After last weekend the answer is Texas A&M, which blew past LSU to run its winning streak to seven games. Now the Aggies make a dangerous tip to Williams-Brice Stadium to face South Carolina, which is coming off a bye week and is a mild 2.5-point underdog on its home field.

But while the Aggies have been surging since their season-opening loss to Notre Dame, they haven’t been very good against the spread—Texas A&M’s 38-23 home victory over 2-point underdog LSU last weekend marked just its third ATS triumph this year.  South Carolina meanwhile has covered in two straight and five of six, and is tied with Tennessee for the second-best ATS mark (behind Vanderbilt!) in the SEC this season.

Texas A&M vs South Carolina Picks – Week 10

Mike Elko has dialed up all the right moves so far in his first season as coach at Texas A&M—including last Saturday night, when he benched starting quarterback Conner Weigman for backup Marcel Reed down 10 to LSU at halftime. Reed ran for three touchdowns, engineering a 31-7 finishing kick. So who’ll be behind center for the Aggies this week in Columbia? There was no immediate decision made in the aftermath of the LSU game, according to CBS Sports.

Regardless, Saturday night in Williams-Brice shapes up as a strength-on-strength matchup of Texas A&M’s running game against South Carolina’s defense. The Aggies are second in the SEC in rushing offense, averaging 221 yards per game; the Gamecocks are third in the league in rush defense and have an absolute play-wrecker in defensive end Kyle Kennard, who leads the SEC in tackles for loss.

The Gamecocks hung tough against LSU and Alabama, losing by five combined points and covering in both instances. But this is a much smaller spread than what South Carolina faced in those games, which doesn’t leave much margin for error unless you think the Gamecocks can win outright. We’re not quite there, envisioning this as a close game that Texas A&M ultimately wins by a touchdown or so after wearing South Carolina down on the line of scrimmage.

Texas A&M vs South Carolina Week 10 Pick: Texas A&M -2.5 (-112)

While the Gamecocks’ offense isn’t the best, the defense is expert at converting opponent turnovers into points—and as a result, South Carolina has gone OVER in two straight and four of five. Texas A&M has also gone OVER in three straight, all against totals larger than the one for Saturday night’s game.

Texas A&M vs South Carolina Week 10 Pick: OVER 44.5 (-110)

Texas A&M vs South Carolina News

The Gamecocks are relatively healthy coming off a bye week, and hope to get receiver Jared Brown back for the Texas A&M game, 247 Sports reported. Brown has been out since reaggravating an undisclosed lower-body injury on Oct. 5 against Ole Miss. Texas A&M will be without receiver Jahdae Walker for the first half of the game at South Carolina; he was called for targeting on a block in the second half last week against LSU.

Texas A&M vs South Carolina Prop Bet: Le’Veon Moss Anytime TD (-125)

Moss is the powerhouse behind Texas A&M’s potent rushing attack, a role that sees him average 6.4 yards per carry. And lately, Moss has been piling up the touchdowns—three against Missouri, two against Mississippi State, two more against LSU last weekend.  Moss is a big reason why Texas A&M has the best red zone offense in the SEC, with 24 touchdowns on 33 trips inside the opposing 20. Expect double-digit carries and more scoring opportunities for Moss on Saturday night.
