WWE has continued to push forward during the COVID-19 pandemic, putting out its weekly shows and even pulling off WrestleMania a month ago. The squared circle was supposed to be set up in Baltimore but now will be taking place at the WWE Global Headquarters in Connecticut.
Three of the four major titles will be up for grabs and I will have a preview and pick for each of those fights as well as the two Money in the Bank matches.
Braun Strowman (C) vs Bray Wyatt – WWE Universal Championship
Wrestler | Odds |
---|---|
Braun Strowman | -130 |
Bray Wyatt | -110 |
Odds as of May 8 at Sportsbook
After Bray Wyatt lost the title to Goldberg at the Super Showdown, it appeared that Roman Reigns would wrestle Goldberg at WrestleMania and claim the belt. However, The Big Dog pulled out of the event and in stepped Braun Strowman who, in a lackluster performance, got the three count and became the WWE Universal champion. With a long history between Wyatt and Strowman, it only makes sense that the two duke it out for the belt. I think the title returns to its rightful owner from before Super Showdown and Wyatt will walk away as the champion.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt (-110)
Drew McIntyre (C) vs Seth Rollins – WWE Championship
Wrestler | Odds |
---|---|
Drew McIntyre | -700 |
Seth Rollins | +400 |
Odds as of May 8 at Sportsbook
Although 2020 has not been enjoyable for the greater population, it has been great for Drew McIntyre. It all started when he eliminated Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble and went on to become the last man standing in that event. He parlayed his Rumble victory into a match with Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 where he captured WWE gold. Rollins had a similar path, with a victory over the Beast Incarnate at WrestleMania 31 to win the WWE Championship. It appears that Rollins has a little bit of a push with his new Monday Night Messiah persona, though 2020 is the year of McIntyre and he will remain champion.
Prediction: Drew McIntyre (-700)
Bayley (C) vs Tamina – WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Wrestler | Odds |
---|---|
Bayley | -500 |
Tamina | +300 |
Odds as of May 8 at Sportsbook
A feud that has continued on since WrestleMania 36, when Tamina was the first person eliminated from the SmackDown Women’s Championship Elimination match after the other four competitors teamed up to get rid of her. Tamina got past Bayley’s best friend Sasha Banks to earn a shot at the champion at Money in the Bank. I think Banks and Bayley will fight either at SummerSlam or Survivor Series, though I believe Banks will assist her friend in this match and Bayley will remain champion.
Prediction: Bayley (-500)
Money in the Bank – Men
Wrestler | Odds |
---|---|
AJ Styles | -125 |
Aleister Black | +175 |
Daniel Bryan | +600 |
Otis | +600 |
Baron Corbin | +800 |
Rey Mysterio | +1200 |
Odds as of May 8 at Sportsbook
The Money in the Bank match should be an interesting one as it sounds like it will be taking place on top of WWE Headquarters – super cool. And speaking of cool, the match between the Undertaker and AJ Styles at WrestleMania had a different take than what we are used to so perhaps Styles will end up on the winning side of things this time around. Styles returned to Raw recently to earn his spot in the Money in the Bank, so is this his push? Not so fast, the only reason Styles is in this match is because of the injury to Apollo Crews. I think that Aleister Black is ready to take the next step forward after a good win at WrestleMania and he has been building for a while.
Prediction: Aleister Black (+175)
Money in the Bank – Women
Wrestler | Odds |
---|---|
Shayna Baszler | -150 |
Nia Jax | +300 |
Lacey Evans | +400 |
Asuka | +600 |
Dana Brooke | +700 |
Carmella | +1000 |
Odds as of May 8 at Sportsbook
I’m going to go with the favorite in this one, Shayna Baszler. She was the favorite to beat Becky Lynch at WrestleMania and I thought that was going to be her time as well. That was a match that had been a long time coming with a feud that spanned months. Baszler almost won the Royal Rumble and did end up winning the Elimination Chamber to earn that first title shot, though she came up short in the title match. The Queen of Spades gets an extra push by winning the Money in the Bank and then she will cash it at an opportune time and become the new WWE Raw Women’s champion.
