Memphis Grizzlies vs. Houston Rockets Expert Picks
Houston Rockets ATS -2.5 (-106), Moneyline (-138)
Even with injuries to Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason, the Rockets' depth was able to shine through on Thursday in fending off the Grizzlies on the road in a 119-115 victory, extending their winning streak to three games. A game against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday was rescheduled due to inclement weather, so Houston will have had ample rest for their third of four meetings this season versus Memphis.
The Rockets have appeared quite vulnerable at home as of late, going 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS over their last five tries. Keep in mind, though, that all five games came against teams currently possessing winning records, and each of the three defeats were by four points or less. The Grizzlies aren't that much better on the road themselves during a similar stretch at 2-3 both SU and ATS, and that record could have been even worse had Ja Morant not sealed a 127-125 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday with a late floater in crunch time.
Each of Houston's starters saw the floor for at least 35 minutes on Thursday, so the extra time away will do it some good. The team has also prevailed over Memphis five of the last six times including twice already this season, with the Rockets having also blown out the Grizzlies by 20 points on Oct. 25. A single game separates the two sides in the standings, so these are the finite details one needs to lean towards one particular outcome.
With that said, Houston hasn't lost to the Grizzlies at home since March 1, 2023, and Memphis hasn't strung together consecutive wins since Dec. 27. At just 2.5 points, bettors are essentially just picking the winner outright barring this latest encounter coming down to a free throw or late-game buzzer beater. The Rockets are the correct play here, even though sprinkling a bit on the Grizzlies also makes sense at plus money with the margins for error being so small.
UNDER 236 Total Points (-110)
The first two games totalled at 234 and 236 points, respectively, so oddsmakers aren't leaving too much wiggle room here to project either an UNDER or OVER on Monday.
This particular pairing hasn't gone over this mark in six-straight games, with the 236 points being the highest since March 6, 2022.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Houston Rockets Player Prop
Jalen Green OVER 22.5 Points (-104)
We're choosing to ride the offensive wave Jalen Green is currently riding with enticing odds at -104 for an OVER of 22.5 points. That seems like a lot, yet Green has made it look easy over the last four games, hitting an OVER each time by averaging a team-high 29 points on 22 shot attempts, converting 48.9 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from 3-point range.
This includes a 27-point performance against the Grizzlies on Thursday. Green dropped 22 in the second game of the season on Oct. 25, as well, and while he only managed to go OVER once in 2023-24 versus Memphis, the now 22-year-old guard didn't play nearly enough minutes to be in the running for huge numbers.
