Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers Expert Picks
Orlando Magic ATS -3.5 (-106)
The Magic blew an opportunity to win East Group A after falling 121-106 to the New York Knicks, but will still be seeing more NBA Cup action in the knockout round as a wild card. The loss ended Orlando's six-game winning streak SU, and was just the team's second defeat in 14 outings.
They'll now take on a Sixers squad that's won consecutive games for the first time all season after beating the LaMelo Ball-less Charlotte Hornets by six points. Philadelphia has won three of its last five, as well, but has already fallen to the Magic less than a month ago by 12 points when both Joel Embiid and Paul George were active. Embiid won't be available on Wednesday as he continues to sit with a knee injury.
Orlando had covered four times in a row with four-straight wins SU on the road prior to getting blown out by New York. The 76ers, meanwhile, are just 2-7 ATS and SU in their backyard, and own the league's second-worst home offense by scoring just 106.1 points per 100 possessions.
Not having Embiid and backup center Andre Drummond (sprained ankle) depletes Philly's interior attack, and both Franz Wagner and Moritz Wagner just combined to drop 50 points on New York's much stronger defense. The Magic will get back on track here and avoid consecutive losses for the first time since early November while covering the narrow spread.
UNDER 208.5 Total Points (-108)
Both teams taking the floor on no rest is added incentive for an UNDER wager, but based on recent trends, with the Magic having failed to link together consecutive OVERs or UNDERs across their last six road appearances, and having just hit an OVER against the Knicks, history would again lean to an UNDER here.
Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers Player Prop
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope OVER 1.5 Made 3-Pointers (-104)
This pick is a prime example of what it means to ride the hot hand, as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has connected on 17 of his last 31 3-point attempts (54.8 percent) across the last four games for Orlando.
He's drilled at least three in each of those outings and four on three of those occasions. Philadelphia allows visitors to shoot 36.2 percent from behind the arc against them across nine games, and with the Wagner brothers commanding much attention in the post, outside threats like KCP could be left more open as a result.
