Oklahoma State vs Kansas State Picks – Week 5

The Cowboys struggled to get their offense going last week against big, physical Utah, which limited standout Oklahoma State tailback Ollie Gordon to just 42 yards on the ground. It was the continuation of a trend for Gordon, who rushed for 1,700 yards last season but is averaging just 64.5 yards per game so far in 2024.

Meanwhile Kansas State turned the ball over on three straight drives to allow BYU to run away in Provo, spoiling a night when Wildcats quarterback Avery Johnson accounted for 204 total yards. It was the second straight big game from Johnson, who had piled up 266 yards—110 of it on the ground—in a convincing victory over nationally ranked Arizona the previous week.

The turnovers seemed out of character, especially on the part of Johnson, who’d thrown only one pick heading to BYU—where he was intercepted twice. But that game was on the road, and started at 9:30 p.m. We’d expect a renewed effort from Johnson and the Wildcats in the Little Apple, where Kansas State beat Oklahoma State 48-0 two years ago.

Oklahoma State vs Kansas State Week 5 Pick: Kansas State -6 (-110)

Both Oklahoma State and Kansas State have gone UNDER the total in two of three games against FBS programs so far this season. Expect the Cowboys to try and get Gordon on track, the Wildcats to rise and fall with their dual-threat quarterback, and the tempo to be similar to the 29-21 outcome in Stillwater last season..

Oklahoma State vs Kansas State Week 5 Pick: UNDER 55 (-110)

Oklahoma State vs Kansas State News

The Cowboys against Utah were without linebacker Collin Oliver, offensive tackle Jake Springfield and linebacker Justin Wright, and the status of all three players for Kansas State was uncertain early in the week. Oliver has been out since injuring his leg in Week 2 against Arkansas, according to 247 Sports, while Springfield missed the previous week’s game with Tulsa and Wright has not yet returned from a leg injury suffered last year.

Oklahoma State vs Kansas State Prop Bet: Dylan Edwards Anytime TD (+110)

Johnson is the star quarterback and D.J. Giddens is the big rushing threat, but it’s Edwards who most often scores the touchdowns for Kansas State. The Colorado transfer has found his niche in Manhattan as a rushing/receiving/kickoff return/punt return threat, and his four touchdowns on the season are twice that of any other Wildcats player.
