The Cougars, once reigning an 8-1 SU record this season, lost control at the end of the year by losing three-straight. Meanwhile, Syracuse is still feeding off the adrenaline of defeating Cam Ward and Miami. There's no undermining the Orange's recent victory over an offensively gifted Hurricanes bench. But, Miami also fell to Georgia Tech just a few weeks prior. So, clearly Mario Cristobal's group was already falling off the wagon a bit. Despite having 12 interceptions this year, Kyle McCord has been spotless in his last four performances and playing some strong, precise football. The senior has completed 75.4% of his 83 passing attempts for 850 yards across his last two outings.
When it comes to our bowl betting trends, the Holiday Bowl has underdog betting success written all over it. The underdog is 9-1 ATS in the last 10 Holiday Bowls, covering in four-straight years. I would've called for that trend to continue but Washington State is being shredded by the transfer portal, losing 18 players and seven of which were starters. Meanwhile, Syracuse hasn't lost a single player and I don't think the Orange plan to.
However, the Orange haven't covered a double-digit favored spread once this season. But, they've hit the OVER in two of thse three instances they were 10-plus point favorites and have cashed the OVER in four of their last five.

As I mentioned, the Cougars pack has gotten much smaller. They've lost RB Wayshawn Parker, a pair of safeties, a starting defensive tackle, heck even their punter! Staring quarterback, John Mateer, was practicing with Washington State. But, rumours speculated that even the sophomore was considering jumping into the portal -- and he did. Mateer led all of college football with 44 total touchdowns. So now, less than 10 days out from kick off, Washington State will struggle to replace its mobile quarterback.
