Flames Turning up the Heat Just in Time to Take on Godawful Isles
Two extremely underwhelming teams will meet this evening when the Islanders host the Calgary Flamers at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. New York has won just one game in its last seven and Jack Capuano could be the next to join Gerard Gallant in the unemployment line.
Calgary has turned things around a little bit and actually sits just five points out of first place in the horrific Pacific Division. The Flames have struggled in the second of back-to-backs recently but none of those games have come against these dismal Islanders.
Another factor to consider is that nine of the Flames' last 10 games on the second night of a back-to-back have been on the road and Calgary has been the underdog in every one of those games. Chad Johnson has turned into a legitimate option as a No. 1 goalie over Brian Elliott and if he gets the call tonight, I really like the Flames as underdogs.
New York has been an awful hockey team in just about every quantifiable category and the Isles are shaping up as excellent fade material tonight.
