These two fellas represent the cream of the crop (perhaps just below champion level) at 135 pounds, and if the Vera vs Figueiredo odds tell us anything, this will be quite the brawl.

How Figueiredo Wins

Pace yourself brother because you ain't knocking Chito out. Since Vera is unkillable (as his fight vs Sean O'Malley demonstrated), Figgy must be very careful with how he expends his energy. His striking vs Cody Garbrandt looked good but not great, and ultimately he leaned on his grappling for the submission win.

I don't hate the idea of Figueiredo using a grappling-heavy approach again, especially as Vera starts very slowly. The former flyweight champ can match Vera's power at 135 pounds, so all he needs to do is fight smart and avoid getting clipped.

Figueiredo by decision is the move. You can get that bet at -105.

How Vera Wins

Get Figueiredo moving. If Chito pushes the Brazilian toward the cage or gets him going side-to-side, he'll have a cardio edge in Rounds 2 and 3, which is when the Ecuadorian thrives.

Watch for Vera to defend Figueiredo's takedowns, and there could even be some epic scrambles, as Chito also possesses excellent jiu-jitsu skills that he busts out every once in a while.

Betting Vera as the SU underdog is a good play, but I'd bet him by KO at +450 for an excellent hail-mary bet. That's the best value play on the card, by far.

Vera vs Figueiredo Betting Pick

While Chito by knockout is calling my name, I'm not comfortable betting more than a sprinkle on the Ecuadorian, who is notoriously unreliable for those who back him.

It's not like Figueiredo is the pinnacle of consistency either, but he's got a better likelihood of winning a three-round fight.

Pick: Figueiredo by decision (-105); Fight Goes The Distance (-260)
