Gordon vs Miller Preview: Who Will Win?
Is this a Fight Of The Year candidate? Heck, no. But maybe it's a profitable bout.
How Gordon Wins
Gordon is a stubborn, confident dude. That attitude has carried him to the UFC, but it has also bitten him on multiple occasions. If we comb through the archives, Charles Oliveira fought Gordon at UFC on ESPN 22 and knocked the American out cold.
Miller has a three-inch reach advantage over the shorter Gordon, meaning "Flash" must be aggressive to work his way in tight. Overall, Gordon is way springier and throws with more force than Miller. I won't guarantee a knockout, but the numbers certainly favor Gordon.
How Miller Wins
Miller, the UFC's all-time fights leader (41), is surprisingly good at staying conscious in the Octagon. Even as the 39-year-old winds down his career, he's only suffered five UFC stoppage losses.
So, he's got a hard head? Is that it? Sort of, I guess. Miller is savvy but he's not a terribly accurate striker, landing significant strikes at a 41% clip. He wins by using Gordon's pressure against him and timing up combos to introduce a shred of madness into this gritty fight.
gordon vs Miller Pick
I'm backing Gordon — he's tangled with more serious competition lately (Paddy Pimblett, Bobby Green) and should have more speed and power.
