2024 CFL Win Totals Best Bets & Picks

With a brand new CFL season about to begin, here are the win totals I'm eyeing.

(Psst, our CFL betting hub will have weekly picks from yours truly once the regular season kicks off).

Edmonton Elks oVER 6.5 Wins (-145)

It's been a rough couple of years for the Elks, picking up just four wins in the last two years -- yikes. But, I have faith in the direction this team is going.

The coaching staff always seemed hesitant to give Canadian QB Tre Ford some love. The 26-year-old started in all four wins from last season, tossing 837 yards and five touchdowns throughout. He was also the leader of ending the brutal 22-game home losing streak (hope he got some contract bonus for that).

But wait, there's more as in walks McLeod Bethel-Thompson. Returning from his brief USFL stint, where he recorded over 2,400 passing yards to break a modern-day era record. The last time appearing in the CFL, the 35-year-old lead the Argos to a Grey Cup in 2022.

The dark cloud is moving away from Commonwealth Stadium.

Montreal Alouettes OVER 10.5 Wins (-125)

The defending champions that nobody expected. The Alouettes stunned the league upsetting the Argos and Blue Bombers on route to their first Grey Cup since 2010.

At first glance, I was hitting the UNDER. Austin Mack, who pocketed an elite 1,154 yards, was noticed by the NFL and signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Finding a replacement wide receiver to connect with Cody Fajardo won't be easy. Then, William Stanback's (800 YDS) ground attack is going to be missed, too.

But, my decision of the OVER has everything to do with Montreal's strength of schedule. There are plenty of chances to get a momentum streak going against the weak East, which just got a lot easier given Chad Kelly's lengthy suspension.

Toronto Argonauts OVER 8.5 Wins (-130)

it'll be interesting to see how the Argos manage the tension hovering around the team to kick off this season. Kelly, the highest-paid player in the league, is sidelined for at least nine weeks and is not partaking in any team activities at the moment.

Toronto has just snagged Nick Arbuckle to fill the gap. The 30-year-old saw 78 passing attempts for 461 yards last season.

Losing AJ Ouellette on the ground is another massive blow. His 1,009 yards were the fourth-most in the nation last year. But, the 28-year-old is moving to Saskatchewan, where he's now the highest-paid running back.

I'm not expecting big things from this group. But, again, that East Division is easy to navigate and this line is just a win too low to not hit the OVER.
