From The Lion King to Little Shop of Horrors and Hairspray, movie-to-musicals have thrived on Broadway for decades. While many movies are based on stage productions, some of the best Broadway shows began on the big screen.
It doesn’t look like this trend will stop any time soon, and oddsmakers at [Sportsbook not available for your region] have released odds on the next movie-to-musical to have a New York Broadway Sportsbook. The 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada currently leads the odds at -200, and you can bet on these odds over at Sportsbook by clicking the button below:
Let’s take a look at some of the best bets on the board in the next movie-to-musical odds:

Why The Devil Wears Prada Is Betting Favorite
The Devil Wears Prada is the favorite to premiere on Broadway first because a musical adaptation of the movie is already in the works. In fact, a pre-Broadway run of the production is slated to start in July 2022 in Chicago, pushed back after previously being slated for July 2021.
If you’re looking for a safe bet on the next movie-to-musical, look no further. We’d need a real made-for-movie comeback story to bump this one from the top spot.
The show’s world premiere is scheduled for July 19, 2022, at the James L. Nederlander Theatre. The musical will feature work from Elton John and, from pre-show press, it sounds like The Devil Wears Prada stage show will take a slightly modern twist on the early-2000s movie.
Next Broadway Movie-To-Musical Value Picks:
13 Going On 30 +550
This 2004 film starring Jennifer Garner has been rumored for Broadway for a few years. Back in 2016, Playbill reported the romantic comedy was being adapted by screenwriters Michael Weiner and Alan Zachary for the stage, but we haven’t heard much since.
Bull Durham +550
It sounds like Bull Durham might be a lot closer to a Broadway production than title character Nuke LaLoosh is to consistently finding the strike zone!
One of the best baseball (or sports, in general) movies ever, Bull Durham was brought to the stage in 2014 in Atlanta and has bounced around as a stage production but never caught on under the big lights of Broadway. In 2019, Broadway World reported “momentum” surrounding a Bull Durham Broadway show, but we haven’t heard much since.
