I'm back with two more MLB expert picks for today's Thursday slate of games!
The Brewers eked out a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers to ruin my perfect day on Wednesday, but I've got two selections to get back to perfection today.
Here are my two MLB picks for August 15th:
MLB Expert Pick Today: Orioles (-136) vs Red Sox
Red Sox vs Orioles Odds -- Game Time 6:36 p.m. ET
Zach Eflin is on a heater to start his Orioles career. He's 3-0 (+2.24 units) in his first three Baltimore outings, allowing just five runs across 19.1 innings pitched. He's struck out 17 batters to just two walks in that stretch.
The Orioles (who are the best runline team in baseball) have covered -1.5 in all three of Eflin's starts, too. But, I'm going to stick to the moneyline here.
There have been stretches this season when I wouldn't bet against Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta. But not right now. The righty has allowed 13 runs in his last three starts and the Sox have lost three of his last five outings.
The one guy I'm terrified of here, though, is Rafael Devers. The Red Sox slugger has five extra-base hits in 13 at-bats against Eflin, good for a 1.615 OPS. WALK HIM ZACH!
MLB Expert Pick Today: Braves vs Giants UNDER 7 (-105)
Braves vs Giants Odds - Game Time: 3:45 pm ET
I'm loving this matchup for an UNDER, even at a low line like seven. The Giants have gone at or UNDER 7 in four of their last six while the Braves have gone UNDER 7 in two of their last three.
Giants SP Logan Webb is the guy who's really gonna bring us to glory here. He's been an absolute UNDER machine this year, with totals in his start going OVER 7 just once in his last five starts. Webb also owns current Braves bats, holding Atlanta hitters to a .239 average and .678 OPS lifetime.
Max Fried has been a bit shakier lately, allowing 10 runs across his last two starts. But, five of his last seven starts have still fallen at or UNDER 7 runs and he's held current Giants hitters to a .557 OPS, lifetime.
