We've got our NRFI picks today for the lone MLB playoff contest. Tonight, it's a Game 3 NLCS matchup between the Dodgers and Mets, a series that has seen tons of scoring. Now, we have a good grasp on the Y/NRFI trends, so I'm quite confident in our play for this evening.
See all our NRFI picks below for today's slate of postseason baseball.
YRFI Pick Today: Dodgers vs Mets (-115)
Dodgers vs Mets Odds -- Game Time 8:08 p.m. ET
I believe the World Series winner will come out of this matchup, but for now, we've got to bet the first inning. And if history repeats itself, we're looking at another YRFI -- an outcome that has hit in the first two games of the series.
I'm completely on board with a YRFI bet for Game 3, as this matchup pits Walke Buehler against Luis Severino. Buehler was a YRFI machine during the regular season, stumbling to a brutal 9.00 ERA in 15 first innings. Buehler is a bad luck magnet, too. He started Game 3 of the NLDS and pitched fine in the first, but Padres starter Michael King gave up a solo homer on the other end, cashing the YRFI.
By all metrics, Buehler will struggle in this contest. He yielded six runs in five innings in his last playoff start, and now he faces a Mets team with an .893 OPS against him.
Luis Severino has pitched quite well in the playoffs, tossing 12 innings and allowing six earned runs (two quality starts). That said, he yielded a YRFI to the Brewers in the first game of the Wild Card series, plus he'll be in tough against Shohei Ohtani, who is 3-for-6 lifetime vs Severino with a homer.
