MLB Expert Picks Today: The King Michael King

I'm back with two MLB expert picks for today.

I'm taking the Blue Jays/Red Sox UNDER with Bowden Francis on the mound in Toronto. But, my most confident pick of the day is backing the Padres with Mike King on the mound.

Here are my two MLB expert picks for Wednesday:

MLB Expert Pick Today: Blue Jays vs Red Sox UNDER 9 (-110)

Blue Jays vs Red Sox Odds - Game Time: 7:11 pm ET

This UNDER is pretty reliant on the pitching. Good thing we’ve got the best pitcher in baseball right now going for Toronto.

Blue Jays righty Bowden Francis has magically turned into Nolan Ryan lately, allowing just four total runs across his last four outings (27 innings pitched). He’s struck out 34 batters to just four walks in that time, too. This UNDER 9 runs has hit in Francis’ last three starts.

On the Boston side, we have Kutter Crawford, who’s rocking a 4.19 ERA on the season but has allowed three or fewer runs in his last two outings. He’s had some shaky starts lately, for sure, but Crawford has allowed just two total runs in his last three outings against the Jays.

Both Toronto and Boston actually rank out top-10 in team OPS over the last month, so I’m banking on the pitching to sneak us UNDER this total. Thankfully, the Jays have gone at or UNDER 9 runs in five of their last seven games. The Red Sox have in four of their last seven.

MLB Expert Pick Today: Padres (-108) vs Cardinals

Padres vs Cardinals Odds -- Game Time 2:16 p.m. ET

Mike King has been incredible in San Diego. The righty has won five of his last six outings (+2.41 units in that stretch), allowing two or fewer earned runs in eight of his last nine appearances. He's quietly become an ace.

St. Louis' Sonny Gray isn't having the same recent run. The Cards have lost five of his last six starts (-4.38 units in that stretch), with Gray posting an ERA over five in each of the last two months. He's allowed five or more runs in five of his last nine outings.

There's a start difference between these offenses lately, too. The Padres rank fifth in MLB over the last month with a team OPS of .785. The Cardinals rank 17th with a .719 mark.

I don't really get why these are basically pick 'em odds, but I'll confidently take San Diego here.
