NRFI Picks Today: Big Hangover Game For New York

We've got two NRFI picks today. I'm playing the odds for a NRFI today in the Marlins and Blue Jays contest. After that, I'm looking to the Pirates vs Yankees game, where New York will be hungover after clinching the AL East last night.

YRFI Pick Today: Marlins vs Blue Jays (-115)

Marlins vs Blue Jays Odds -- Game Time 7:07 p.m. ET

The Jays and Marlins are a strong NRFI bet with very little to play for. At 90-69 NRFI, Toronto's offense has been very temperamental in the first inning, riding crazy hot streaks and icy stretches of poor play. We're in the ice age right now, as the Jays have hit for a .511 OPS in the last 14 days. That frosty total puts them 25th in MLB during this span.

Oddly enough, Miami's bats own an .860 OPS during the same span, but Toronto will counter with Jose Berrios to shut things down. The Puerto Rican right-hander earned his nickname ("La Makina") in the first inning this season, where he posted a stellar 2.61 ERA. Good luck, Fish.

For the Marlins, it's Adam Oller, a righty high on stuff and low on command. Despite his troubles, Oller owns a 5-2 NRFI record and will be in a good spot for No. 6 against a sputtering group of Blue Jays hitters.

NRFI Pick Today: Pirates vs Yankees (-115)

Pirates vs Yankees Odds -- Game Time 7:05 p.m. ET

The trends are great for a NRFI bet in this matchup. It starts with New York, a great YRFI club until the last 14 days, when the Yanks have hit for a sub-.600 OPS. Aaron Judge has picked himself up, but the lineup around him still lags behind. Jared Jones (16-5 NRFI) is a good starter, too, and he won't take it easy on the Yankees, who will be hungover after clinching the AL East yesterday.

You just know the Yankees partied hard after the win, and they may roll with a lineup of back-ups Friday. On top of it all, Carlos Rodon takes the hill for New York, ready to feast on a Pirates offense that hit for a .645 OPS against LHPs in the first inning this year. The Bucs generally stink in the first inning (.213 BA), and this matchup with Rodon won't make things any easier.

Get those Yankees stars a Gatorade this morning, and get us a NRFI come 7 p.m. ET.
