YRFI Pick Today: Yankees vs Guardians (-105)
Yankees vs Guardians Odds -- Game Time 5:08 p.m. ET
The odds help me come to this conclusion, but after witnessing a YRFI in Game 2 of this series, I'm rolling with another run to be scored in Game 3.
New York had the benefit of some shaky command by Tanner Bibee in the first inning last time around, but for the first time all series, I saw the Bronx Bombers look truly dangerous. The club's at-bats were smart, composed, and impactful. Aaron Judge finally broke through with a late homer, but the improvements began in the very first inning.
Now the Guards toss Matt Boyd on the mound, a lefty with a shaky track record vs the Yankees. Boyd has yielded an .859 OPS to Yanks hitters, with an alarming .405 OBP on nine walks. This tells me the Yankees see the ball super well off him, which lends itself to a YRFI.
NRFI Pick Today: Dodgers vs Mets (-135)
Dodgers vs Mets Odds -- Game Time 8:08 p.m. ET
Despite a narrow OVER 7.5 runs in Game 3, this series delivered another NRFI in that contest, with the Dodgers offense waiting until the middle innings to explode. After witnessing that game, I'm now also not so sure how the Mets offense will fare with so much pressure on them. New York struggled to get anything going, and now they face Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who will have all the confidence in the world after helping L.A. beat the Padres in Game 5 of the NLDS.
Yamamoto hucked five shutout innings last time around, working with efficiency and grace as he mowed through a downtrodden Padres lineup. The NRFI hit in that game, too.
Jose Quintana gets the ball for the Mets, and he's been solid, too. The left-hander produced a NRFI in a big spot vs the Phillies in Game 4 of the NLDS, yielding just one run in five innings. Both pitchers are dialed in, and neither club's top of the order is super hot after Shohei Ohtani waited until the late innings to homer yesterday.
