NRFI Picks Today: Mets-Nats Is A Great Matchup

Do you want NRFI picks today? Well, you're in the right spot.

Today's slate gives us plenty of chances to win big, starting with a NRFI play in the Nats and Mets game. After that, the ever-high-scoring D-backs take on the Rockies, so I've got the YRFI bet in that contest.

NRFI Pick Today: Nationals vs Mets (-125)

Nationals vs Mets Odds -- Game Time 7:10 p.m. ET

The Mets (94-57 NRFI) and Nats (92-59 NRFI) are always a great NRFI duo. Neither club puts up much fight in the first inning, as New York and Washington bat .223 and .224, respectively, in the first inning. It's wise enough to lay this bet regardless of starting pitchers, but in this case, the men on the mound help our case.

DJ Herz is the man, rocking a 13-4 NRFI record thanks to a 2.65 ERA and some impressive hit impression skills. The youngster is on a four-game NRFI streak, looking to make it five in a favorable matchup vs the Mets.

Jose Quintana (20-9 NRFI) is our hero on the Mets side. He's equally reliable, posting a 3.41 ERA in the first inning. Combined, these two starters are strong enough to cash our NRFI pick today.

YRFI Pick Today: D-backs vs Rockies (-145)

D-Backs vs Rockies Odds -- Game Time 3:10 p.m. ET

It's chalk city in Colorado today, but I'm unafraid. The Diamondbacks are a menace in the first inning, rocking an MLB-best .928 OPS alongside a 75-76 YRFI record. Eduardo Rodriguez takes the hill Wednesday, and despite his terrible 5.50 ERA, he remains a perfect 7-0 NRFI in the first inning. It's crazy; he's yet to yield a first-inning run all year.

Now, Rodriguez could easily slip up and allow a homer, but the Rox starting pitching is more likely to implode vs a dominant Snakes offense. Austin Gomber (14-14 YRFI) gets the start for Colorado, fresh off two straight YRFIs to the Yankees and Cubs, respectively.

Put simply, Gomber is arguably the worst first-inning pitcher in baseball. The owner of a 10.61 ERA, the Rox starter has yielded seven first-inning homers and opponents slash .370/.418/.622 against him. Arizona is hot this time of year, and I expect them to tee off for at least one run in the first.
