NRFI Picks Today: Marlins vs Dodgers Features Terrible Pitching

Do you want NRFI picks today? Well, you're in the right spot.

Today's slate offers plenty of value, starting with a NRFI pick in the Giants and Orioles game, where both starters have been very clean this year. It's the complete opposite in the Dodgers-Marlins contest, where bad pitching makes for an automatic YRFI bet.

NRFI Pick Today: Giants vs Orioles (-115)

Giants vs Orioles Odds -- Game Time 6:35 p.m. ET

The Giants have long been weak in the first inning, hence their 81-69 NRFI record. The club has pitched quite well, but the offense never follows through. Things are worse than ever now, too. For example, the G-Men are batting .155 in the first inning over the last 30 days, the lowest mark in MLB during that span.

And Baltimore hasn't been much better lately either. The O's bats have dwindled as the Yankees surged and stole the AL East from them. And as the Orioles have struggled, their NRFI record has grown to 83-67. Once a formidable YRFI club, Baltimore is now quite reliable in the other direction.

Blake Snell (15-3 NRFI) goes for San Fran today. He owns a 2.50 ERA in the first inning and is looking to string together his second straight NRFI game. The lefty should be in good shape, as active O's hitters bat just .200 off him with a .707 OPS.

Then you've got Albert Suarez (17-4 NRFI), whose 3.00 ERA in the first proves he's a reliable NRFI option, too. With the Giants down bad, Suarez will be fine, and Snell is as good as they get in the first, so I'll gladly bet this at -115 odds.

YRFI Pick Today: Dodgers vs Marlins (-120)

Dodgers vs Marlins Odds -- Game Time 6:40 p.m. ET

The Dodgers (79-71 YRFI) and Marlins (83-69 YRFI) represent one of the more advantageous YRFI matchups in baseball in dramatically different ways. Los Angeles gets er' done with offense, while Miami's pitching often fails, leading to plenty of scoring.

Today, we could see both pitching staffs fail. Marlins starter Darren McCaughan is as bad as it gets in the first inning. He's allowed a run in each of his three starts, leaving behind a 15.00 ERA and a .500 opponent batting average (1.517 OPS). I wonder how Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts greet a guy like that?

The Dodgers aren't any smoother with Bobby Miller on the hill. Miller owns an 8.17 ERA this season, making him worth -1.7 bWAR. Ouch. As you can imagine, his first-inning numbers are atrocious, too. Miller owns a 7-5 YRFI record with a 12.00 ERA in the first inning, and opponents own a 1.061 OPS against him.
