Phillies vs Royals Same-Game Parlay Today: Back Wacha

Let's finish off the week with a winning MLB same-game parlay for Friday.

I'm honing in on a simple two-leg parlay, backing the Royals with Michael Wacha on the mound and Sal Perez a the plate. Check out my full Royals vs Phillies same-game parlay here:

Phillies vs Royals Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 1: Royals ML

I’ll be honest to the people. I came into this contest thinking I was going to be betting AGAINST Michael Wacha and the Royals. Current Philly hitters have a lifetime .984 OPS against Wacha, which led me down that road.

But, when I dove into Wacha’s game logs I changed my mind. The Royals righty has been on an absolute heater later, with KC winning eight of his last nine starts (+5.51 units). He’s allowed just 15 total runs across his last 10 starts, rocking a sub 2.8 ERA in the last three months of play. That’s elite stuff. As shown by Outlier, below, Wacha has been on an UNDER 2.5 ER heater lately, too. You can bet that U2.5 ER tonight at -105.

OUTLIER

Philly starter Taijuan Walker has been basically the opposite, losing his last seven outings with ERAs over 5.5 in his last two months (he’s -4.24 units on the season). The Royals bats also rocking a career .306 average and .755 against Walker, this was an easy call to go KC ML.

Phillies vs Royals Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 2: Sal Perez O1.5 TB

The big bat that's gonna help us get this win on the Royals side is Sal Perez. While he’s gone over 1.5 total bases in ‘just’ four of his last eight games, he’s having one of his best months of the season in August.

After a .616 OPS in June and .733 in July, Perez has upped it to .768 so far in August. He’s got 17 hits (five doubles) and 12 RBI in just 18 August contests.

Perez also owns an edge over Walker. The big catcher has a hit in all three of his career at-bats against Walker (plus a walk in the other plate appearance).
