Boston Hopes Home Court will lead to Another Upset vs. Brooklyn
The Boston Celtics were 0-5 SU and ATS in their previous five games against the Brooklyn Nets before defeating them 125-119 in Game 3 on Friday night. The Celtics are hoping to even up the series with another upset win over the Nets this Sunday night in Boston.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Nets opened as 6.5-point road favorites before the line settled in at Brooklyn -7. Bettors leaned towards the UNDER 229.5 points to bump the total for Game 4 down a full point to 228.5 points. Boston closed as a 7.5-point underdog in Friday’s upset victory.
Brooklyn News & Notes
James Harden recorded 41 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds on Friday night and Kevin Durant added 39 points and nine rebounds. But despite these two monster efforts, the Nets found themselves on the wrong side of a 125-119 final soore in Game 3. Kyrie Irving scored 16 points in the loss as the Nets’ big three combined to score 96 of Brooklyn’s 119 points for a total of 80.7% of the team’s points on Friday.
Durant, Irving, and Harden combined to score 78.8% of the team’s points in Game 1 when they had 82 points in Brooklyn’s 104-93 win last week. It isn’t uncommon to see teams rely heavily on their star players in the postseason, but the Nets’ may eventually need to get their role players more involved as the playoffs progress. Brooklyn had a 7-0 SU and ATS winning streak snapped in Friday’s loss.
Boston News & Notes
Jayson Tatum willed the Celtics to victory in Game 3 with a masterful 50-point performance. Tatum went 16-for-30 from the floor with five three-pointers and went 13-for-15 from the free throw line, adding six rebounds and seven assists in the win as well. The huge game came immediately after Tatum went only 3-for-12 from the floor with nine points in a disappointing 130-108 blowout loss in Game 2.
Kemba Walker is questionable for Game 4 with a knee injury and Robert Williams III has been downgraded to doubtful on Sunday after injuring his ankle in Game 3. With Walker banged up and Jaylen Brown out for the postseason with a wrist injury, the Celtics will need Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart to be at their absolute best to keep this series competitive.

Jayson Tatum and the Celtics showed they had heart and weren’t going down without a fight in Game 3. But this injury-hampered Boston lineup just doesn’t have the firepower to keep up with the Nets as this series continues on.
