Cleveland Tops Portland For Fourth Straight Win
The Cavs picked up their fourth consecutive win Wednesday, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 114-96. Donovan Mitchell had a big night with 34 points while Jarrett Allen (24 points, 13 rebounds) and Darius Garland (24 points, 12 assists) had double-doubles in the win. Jusuf Nurkic (22 points), Jerami Grant (21) and Anfernee Simons (20) each had 20-plus for Portland.
Cleveland has been very streaky – they had an eight-game win streak earlier this season followed by a five-game losing skid prior to their current run. The Cavs have been strong offensively, led by Mitchell and Garland, who are combining for nearly 55 points per game. Six players in total are scoring in double digits – a testament to the team’s depth.
Bucks Suffer Rare Home Loss To Bulls
The Bucks came up short against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, losing 118-113 to suffer a rare loss on home court. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a monster performance with 36 points and 11 boards, but DeMar DeRozan (36 points) was his equal. Chicago also had five others finish in double digits, which made the difference.
Milwaukee has been one of the strongest home teams in the NBA this season with a 9-2 record at Fiserv Forum, tied with the Phoenix Suns (9-1) for the most home wins. Antetokounmpo is averaging 33 points per game at home to go along with 11.4 rebounds – a big reason why the Bucks have been nearly unbeatable in Milwaukee.
Cavaliers Player Prop: Mitchell OVER 29 Points (+108)
Mitchell has been outstanding for the Cavs this season, averaging 30.1 points per game. The shooting guard has scored 29 or more in seven of his last nine outings, so he should hit the OVER on Friday.
Bucks Player Prop: Antetokounmpo OVER 33 Points (+114)
Antetokounmpo has had a couple quieter nights this month but has bounced back in his last two games, scoring at least 36 in each contest. Going head-to-head against Mitchell should give the Greek Freak some motivation to have another strong showing.
Cavaliers: Keys To Victory
The Cavs have been a bit of a roller-coaster this season but they’re currently on an upswing thanks to some strong play at both ends of the court. Over their last three games, they’re allowing just 95 points per night. If they can bring that defensive intensity again, they should extend their run.
Bucks: Keys To Victory
Cleveland and Milwaukee match up evenly on the defensive end but it’s on offense where the Bucks are suffering, ranking 16th in the league in points per game (111.5). With Khris Middleton still out, the bulk of the pressure falls on the shoulders of Antetokounmpo. If the Bucks are going to snap the Cavaliers’ streak, he’ll surely need to have another performance of 30-plus points.
