Mark Cuban or the Houston Rockets: Who Really Owns the Mavs?
The Houston Rockets have completely dominated the Dallas Mavericks, going 18-4 SU and 15-7 ATS in this matchup since 2014. That includes a current eight-game stretch dating back two calendar years where the Rockets have won each and every matchup by an average of 11.63 points. Tonight, in Houston, the Rockets are a 7-point favorite despite going 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS in the past week.

Mavericks Struggle Away From Home
As if the deck wasn’t stacked enough against Dallas in this matchup, Rick Carlisle’s team has been woeful away from home. Dallas’ home/road scoring splits are jarring with the team scoring 115.7 points per game at home vs 103.1 points per game on the road.
The Mavs actually have the No. 10 scoring offense at home but it plummets to No. 28 on the road. Houston has the No. 10 scoring defense on home court with just 109.3 points per game scored by visitors to the Toyota Center.
Monitor the Status of Chris Paul and Luka Doncic
Chris Paul missed the Rockets’ game on Monday and is listed as questionable for tonight. Without CP3 in the lineup, the Rockets have gone 0-4 SU and ATS in the last four games that he’s missed.
In his absence last time out, James Harden put up 54 points in a losing effort in Washington while Eric Gordon had a tidy 36 points in a supporting role. Paul is averaging 17.9 points per game, but his real asset to the team is ball distribution. His status is certainly something to consider with a high-ish spread starting to take shape.
My Bet for This Game
I’m backing the Rockets on the spread, with or without CP3. I was able to lock in at 6.5 early in the day and I’m comfortable with that, given the statistics we’re seeing from Dallas on the road. Luka Doncic, the Mavericks’ top scorer, is dealing with an illness and is questionable to play in this game, so that brings the playing field back toward normal.
