Mavericks Look to Bounce Back vs Warriors
The Warriors (12-10 SU, 11-11 ATS) smoked the Mavericks (9-14 SU, 10-13 ATS) in Thursday’s 147-116 win as they put up their highest total of the season. But the matchup has been even dating back as each team has won five of their last ten meetings. The Mavericks are favored to bounce back in this one as they opened as a -4 favorite.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The game opened with the Mavericks as favorites at -4 and despite the drubbing they took on home court on Thursday it may be warranted. The Mavs are 8-2 against the spread in their last ten meetings with Golden State. The total opened at 230 and has moved up to 231 at most sportsbooks.
Golden State News & Notes
It was Kelly Oubre Jr.’s night on Thursday as the 25-year-old forward had a career high 40 points in the Warriors win. Oubre is a third on the team averaging 13.3 point per game this season.
With Klay Thompson, Marquese Chriss, Kevon Looney and James Wiseman all out for the Warriors, they are not exactly expected to be championship contenders this year. But don’t tell that to Steph Curry. Curry had a casual 28 points and six assists on Thursday and leads the team with 28.2 points per game. That ranks fifth in the league this season as well.
Just to add to the Warriors’ injury woes, power forward Eric Paschall is questionable for this game which does not bode well for a team that was 0-7 ATS in their last seven games against Dallas before Thursday’s beat down.
Dallas News & Notes
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a tailspin as of late as the team has now lost seven of their last eight. The Mavs have been an extremely streaky team this season as they have already had a five-game winning streak and a six-game losing streak despite playing only 23 games this season.
Point guard Luka Doncic hasn’t been an issue, at least offensively, as the young superstar has put up 25 points or more in nine straight games, going over 30 three times in that span. Doncic is also second in the league averaging 9.4 assists per game.
The problem for the Mavs has been on the defensive end. Dallas is 28th in the league in rebounds per game and are bottom ten in blocks and steal per game. And in a league that relies on the three-point shot more than ever, the Mavericks rank dead last in the league in three point percentage (3P%) at a lowly 33.2 per cent.
Betting Pick: Warriors +4
The Mavericks are struggling in too many areas right now to be counted on. And although recent history suggests these teams have played each other pretty evenly, the Warriors win on Thursday was so convincing, there’s no reason to think they couldn’t do something similar again.
