Blazers Have a Slight Edge vs Warriors
Two of the most electrifying point guards in the NBA go head-to-head Wednesday as Stephen Curry leads the Golden State Warriors into Portland for a date with Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers. Golden State (19-16 SU, 18-17 ATS) and Portland (19-14 SU, 18-15 ATS) have split the first two meetings, with Wednesday marking their final encounter of the regular season.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
Golden State opened as a 1-point favorite and can now be found either at -1 or -1.5 depending on your sportsbook of choice. The total of 235 remains unchanged.
Golden State News & Notes
Before Curry looks to add another three-point contest title to his resume at All-Star Weekend, he’ll try to push the Warriors closer to the heavy hitters atop a stacked Pacific Division. Golden State enters the middle of the week in fourth place in the division, behind Phoenix and both Los Angeles-based teams – all of whom rank in the top four league-wide in victories.
As expected, Curry will play a major role in how the Warriors fare in their final two games prior to the all-star break. Some of his best work has come against the Trail Blazers: He’s averaging an incredible 44 points on 52.9 percent shooting in the two previous meetings this season and is a must-roster in daily fantasy cash games with a scoring ceiling that high.
Portland News & Notes
The Trail Blazers have been a confounding team to wager on in recent weeks. They reeled off six consecutive victories in mid-February, then proceeded to drop four in a row before rebounding with a double-digit home win over Charlotte last time out. That inconsistency has also marked this head-to-head series, with Portland winning one game by 25 and losing the other by 15.
While he wasn’t quite as prolific as his point guard counterpart, Lillard was terrific in the previous two meetings. He averaged 33 points in those contests while shooting a blistering 48 percent from three-point range (on 12.5 attempts per game, no less). Look at the OVER on Lillard’s three-point makes as one of the most appealing player props on either team.
Betting Pick: Portland +1 (-110)
The Blazers look like they’ve turned a corner, while the Warriors needed 62 points from Curry to earn the victory in their previous meeting. We like Portland in what should be a closely contested game.
