Curry Returns But Warriors Fall To Suns
The Warriors suffered their third straight loss Tuesday as they fell 125-113 to the Phoenix Suns. Klay Thompson (29 points), Jordan Poole (27 points) and Steph Curry (24 points) each had solid games in the loss, but five players scored in double digits to carry the Suns to victory, led by Mikal Bridges (26 points).
Despite the loss, the Warriors will be happy to finally have their roster more or less fully healthy. Curry’s appearance on Tuesday marked his first game since December 14 after being sidelined for a month with a shoulder injury, while Thompson also returned after missing a game with a knee issue. Golden State went 6-5 in Curry’s absence, so the Warriors will hope to get rolling with their stars finally healthy.
Defensive Struggles Continue For Spurs
The Spurs dropped their third straight game on Wednesday as they lost 135-129 to the Memphis Grizzlies. Ja Morant score 38 points to lead the Grizzlies to victory while Keldon Johnson (24 points) and Tre Jones (22 points) topped the Spurs in a losing effort.
It’s been a rough season for the Spurs and things haven’t gotten much better in recent weeks with the team winning just three of its last 12 contests. Defense has been San Antonio’s main Achilles heel as the team ranks dead last in the NBA in points against per game (121). In fact, the Spurs have not allowed less than 109 points in a game since December 19 when they held the Houston Rockets to 105.
Warriors Player Prop: Curry OVER 30 Points (+133)
Curry looked no worse for wear in his return to the lineup on Tuesday, scoring 24 points in 31 minutes on the floor. Facing a weak defensive squad in San Antonio, Curry should be able to hit the OVER on 30 points – a mark he hit in six of his last 11 games before the injury.
Spurs Player Prop: Johnson OVER 26 Points (+134)
Johnson has been one of the few bright spots for San Antonio this season, averaging 21.3 points per game to lead the Spurs. The small forward has scored 26 or more in three of his last six outings so there’s a fair chance he hits the OVER on Friday.
Warriors: Keys To Victory
Friday presents a good opportunity for Curry and the Warriors, who are coming up against the worst defensive team in the NBA and will be hungry to snap their losing skid. If Curry, Thompson and Poole can all keep producing like they have been, the Dubs should be able to run up the score against the Spurs.
Spurs: Keys To Victory
The Spurs haven’t won many games but when they do it’s usually because they keep their opponent to less than 115 points. That’ll be much easier said than done for the Spurs, but it’s likely their only chance at the win.
