Clippers go for fifth win in a row vs Chris Paul and the Rockets
The Houston Rockets will tip off with the Los Angeles Clippers in Tinseltown and both of these teams are on nice winning streaks. The Clippers have won four straight games and now welcome former point guard Chris Paul back to the Staples Center after he suited up for the Clips for six seasons. The Rockets, on the other hand, are going for their fourth straight win and opened as 5.5-point favorites.
The Clippers will need a superhuman effort from Blake Griffin tonight if they expect to knock off the Rockets. Los Angeles will be short-handed in the frontcourt as DeAndre Jordan is expected to miss another game due to an ankle injury.
Although injuries seem to be commonplace with the Clippers, it hasn’t seemed to hold them back vs the Rockets as the Clips are 4-2 SU in their last six games in this matchup and have won 11 of the last 14 games when hosting Houston. If “Sweet” Lou Williams can have another high-scoring game like when he dropped 50 points vs the Warriors last week, then the Clips could be a great moneyline play.
The Rockets are dealing with their own injury issues as they wait for James Harden’s balky hamstring to get corrected. However, the Rockets have kept a great pace with Chris Paul, though, as he’s scored 86 points in the Rockets’ last three games and Houston is 3-0 SU and ATS during that stretch. Bettors have also enjoyed the spoils of backing the Rockets on the road this season as they’re 15-5 SU and 12-8 ATS.
The total opened at 229.5 and the OVER is looking like a decent play in this matchup. The OVER has hit in 11 of the last 15 games when these two teams collide and both squads are ranked in the top 10 in scoring.
