Warriors Look to Avenge Lopsided Loss to LA
Golden State (19-19 SU, 18-20 ATS) snapped a four-game losing streak Sunday with an impressive win over the Jazz. The Warriors try to make it two wins in a row over Western Conference powerhouses when they host the Lakers (25-13, 18-20). LA beat the Warriors by 26 points when the teams met two weeks ago.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Sportsbook point spread and total are nearly identical to the lines that oddsmakers posted for the Warriors’ visit to Staples Center on February 28. LA whipped Golden State 117-91 as 3-point favorites in that contest, one of the Lakers’ three wins over their last nine games.
Los Angeles News & Notes
Things still aren’t coming easily for the Lakers without Anthony Davis, who will need at least a couple more weeks to recover from the calf injury he suffered on Valentine’s Day.
LA had to overcome a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to edge the Pacers 105-100 Friday in its first game back from the all-star break, although the Lakers still managed to cash tickets for their backers as 4.5-point favorites.
LeBron James was rather quiet by his lofty standards, scoring just 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, but several other Lakers front-court players stepped up their games with center Marc Gasol (health and safety protocols) also out of the lineup.
Kyle Kuzma sparked Los Angeles’ rally by scoring 15 of his team-high 24 points in the fourth quarter, while Montrezl Harrell added 17 points and Markieff Morris contributed eight points and seven boards.
Gasol will remain out for the Lakers tonight, Sportsbook the door for 10-day signee Damian Jones to make his second straight start. Jones had seven points and one rebound in 16 minutes against the Pacers. Backup point guard Alex Caruso will also be out of action against the Warriors after suffering a mild concussion Friday.
Golden State News & Notes
The Warriors are forced to face the Lakers on the second night of a back-to-back, but at least they’re back home again. Playing at Chase Center yesterday for just the second time in nearly a month, Golden State snapped a four-game losing streak with a huge 131-119 win over the Jazz.
Draymond Green had 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists for his 26th career triple-double, and Steph Curry bounced back from a 1-for-8 performance from behind the arc Thursday to drain six triples and 32 points against Utah. Andrew Wiggins added 28 points and James Wiseman knocked down eight of his 11 shots for 16 points.
Despite going 1-4 SU and ATS in its last five games, Golden State has now won seven of its last nine at home and is 12-6 SU at Chase Center this season. The Warriors also won’t have to travel as part of this back-to-back, although playing on short rest hasn’t been kind to the Dubs recently. Golden State is 7-18-1 ATS in its last 26 games when playing for the second straight day, going UNDER in each of its last five games in that situation.
Betting Pick: Warriors +2.5
The Lakers’ offense has sputtered without Davis and likely will again vs a Golden State defense that ranks third in the NBA in field-goal percentage allowed.
