Short-Handed Clips Defeat Jazz

The Clippers picked up an impressive win over the Utah Jazz on Monday, taking it 121-114. Norman Powell stepped up with 30 points and Reggie Jackson had 27 while Ivica Zubac (14 points, 14 rebounds) was a monster on the glass. Jordan Clarkson (26 points) and Lauri Markkanen (25 points, 10 rebounds) topped Utah in the loss.

Los Angeles was without its leading scorer, Paul George, in Monday’s win, and the team will now be without both George and Kawhi Leonard for Wednesday’s contest. Leonard, who returned to the lineup for just three games following a 12-game absence, will be out with an ankle sprain, while George has a hamstring strain.

Without Regulars, Warriors Blown Out By Pelicans

The Warriors were whipped 128-83 by the New Orleans Pelicans in their last game Monday, with Golden State choosing to scratch Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins in the back-to-back. Jordan Poole (26 points) was the lone Warrior to score 20-plus while Brandon Ingram had 34 for the Pelicans in the win.

It was a bit of a curious decision by coach Steve Kerr to scratch all four of the team’s top players as the Warriors have struggled to get much momentum going this season. Prior to the loss, Golden State had won five of seven contests after a five-game losing skid. The well-rested Warriors will now look to get things going again against a very depleted Clippers squad.

Clippers: Keys To Victory

The Clips do come into this matchup on a three-game run, but even the most optimistic fans will have a tough time imagining a win without George and Leonard. If there is one thing to be hopeful about, it’s the fact that Los Angeles owns the second-best defense in the NBA, allowing just 105.8 points per game. If they can slow down the high-flying Dubs, maybe they can pull off the huge upset.

Warriors: Keys To Victory

Golden State’s veteran quartet should be well-rested and hungry coming into this matchup as they’ve got a chance to earn a big win over their intrastate rivals. Curry has been doing Curry things this season with 32.3 points per game – second in the NBA – while Thompson and Wiggins have been heating up in November. Look for the trio to pile up some points on Wednesday.
