Grizzlies Fall To Short-Handed 76ers

Memphis’ three-game win streak ended Monday as the Grizzlies fell 122-119 to the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime. Tyrese Maxey dropped 33 points to lead the Sixers, while Joel Embiid sat out for a planned rest day. Ja Morant scored 37 for the Grizzlies in his seventh straight outing of 30-plus points while Desmond Bane added 34.

The Grizzlies, who boast the NBA’s fourth-best offense (112.1 points per game), have prided themselves on their depth this season, though it was nowhere to be seen in Monday’s loss. Only three players finished in double digits as starters Ziaire Williams and Steven Adams scored just eight and seven points, respectively.

Adams (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday’s contest.

Knicks Snap Losing Skid As Tough Schedule Continues

The Knicks got a much-needed win and ended a three-game skid Monday as they defeated the lowly Sacramento Kings 116-96. Alec Burks led New York with 21 points in a solid team effort as six players finished in double digits.

New York is going through arguably its toughest part of the schedule right now, coming off recent losses to the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. After facing the Grizzlies on Wednesday, they’ll take on the Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors in succession – a five-game span that includes four of the top six teams in the Western Conference. If the Knicks can pick up just a couple of victories, they’ll probably take that as a win.

Derrick Rose (ankle) remains out but is likely to return following the all-star break.

Grizzlies vs Knicks Pick & Insights

Grizzlies: Keys To Cover

Morant has been one of the hottest players in the league since the calendar flipped to 2022, averaging 29.1 points per game in January. He and Bane likely won’t combine for 70-plus points like they did last time out, but a combo of 50-plus points should easily be in the cards to go along with a Grizzlies win.

Knicks: Keys To Cover

While the Grizzlies are an offensive powerhouse, the Knicks are the exact opposite, owning the 27th-ranked offense (104.1 points per game). They do, however, possess the fifth-ranked defense (104.6 points against per game), which may allow them to keep this one close. But without any star scorers, New York will likely need another strong team effort on offense to pull out a win.
