Nuggets Have Dominated Knicks in Denver
It’s been 15 years since the Knicks last won in Denver, but this is a much different New York team than the ones that lost 12 straight trips to the Mile High City. The Knicks (37-28 SU, 42-22-1 ATS) seek their 13th win in 14 games Wednesday when they face the Nuggets (43-22, 31-34).
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
Bettors couldn’t wait to back the Knicks in this matchup, betting New York down to +3 within an hour of the line Sportsbook at Sportsbook. The Knicks are 1-9 SU in their last 10 games as underdogs of 5 points or more, but they’ve covered five of their last seven in that situation.
New York News & Notes
Derrick Rose enters action tonight in the same form as his Knicks team: red-hot. Ten years after being named league MVP, Rose is showing flashes of his former self, shooting 19-for-26 in his last two games.
The guard scored a season-high 25 points in just 27 minutes Monday to help New York roll to a 118-104 win in Memphis, moving the Knicks to 12-1 SU in their last 13 games and 15-1 ATS in their last 16.
Julius Randle netted 28 points to lead the Knicks, who shot 50.6 percent from the floor on the second night of a back-to-back and held the Grizzlies to 39.5 percent shooting. New York held its own in the paint despite the absence of starting center Nerlens Noel, as backups Taj Gibson and Norvel Pelle combined to block seven shots.
Denver News & Notes
When a torn ACL ended Jamal Murray’s season, many thought it would do the same to Denver’s championship hopes. However, the Nuggets seem to have rallied around their fallen star guard, winning nine of their first 10 games without Murray before Monday’s tough 93-89 loss to the Lakers.
Also without Monte Morris and Will Barton, Denver’s backcourt depth took yet another hit as guard P.J. Dozier left Monday’s contest with hip tightness. Dozier underwent an MRI on Tuesday, leaving Facundo Campazzo, Shaq Harrison and the recently signed Austin Rivers as Denver’s only healthy guards.
Campazzo committed an offensive foul late in the fourth quarter Monday that negated what would have been a key three-pointer by Michael Porter Jr., then had a three-pointer blocked by Anthony Davis with seven seconds to go.
Denver’s backcourt issues may put even more weight on the broad shoulders of center Nikola Jokic, who remains the betting favorite to win this year’s MVP award. Jokic had 32 points in 35 minutes Monday, his third 30-point outing in four games and the eighth time in his last 10 that he’s scored at least 24 points.
Betting Pick: OVER 215
This total looks too low for a Knicks team that has gone OVER the total in eight of its last 10, scoring at least 110 points nine times during that stretch.
