Heat Look to Remain Red-Hot at Home vs 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to squander opportunities to gain ground in the Eastern Conference by being a dreadful road team – and they’ll get no relief Monday as they tangle with the Heat in Miami. Not only have the Sixers dropped two straight to fall to 9-17 on the road, but they also have the daunting task of facing a Heat team that boasts a 21-3 home mark on the season.

Miami opened as a 2-point favorite, but the line has shifted all the way to -3.5 at some sportsbooks. The total has also moved, from an Sportsbook of 214.5 down to 213.

Philadelphia News & Notes

The 76ers’ 2019-20 season hit a new low last time out, as they dropped a 116-95 decision to the Boston Celtics – a defeat in which all-star center Joel Embiid went just 1-for-11 while finishing with 11 points, five rebounds and four turnovers in one of the worst games of his career. He then declined to talk to reporters after the game.

And while you could make the case that Philadelphia has played Miami tough this season, with a blowout victory and two narrow losses, the same could be said of its series with Boston – it had won the first three games before getting routed on Saturday. And it doesn’t get any easier after this one, with the Sixers paying a visit to the NBA-leading Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

Miami News & Notes

The Heat remain one of the most impressive home teams in the NBA, but they’ve shown cracks of late, going 1-2 SU in their past three at AmericanAirlines Arena and 1-3 ATS in their last four. However, they’ve won six of their previous nine games overall, with Jimmy Butler’s 24 points guiding the Heat past the rival Orlando Magic 102-89 last time out.

Butler, who spent last season in Philadelphia, has been a terrific addition in his first year with the Heat. The 30-year-old forward is averaging 20.3 points to go along with career highs in rebounds (6.8) and assists (6.3) – but the 76ers have done a good job restricting Butler so far this season, limiting him to just 16.7 points on 35.6 percent shooting over the first three meetings.

Betting Pick: Miami -2

The 76ers look disjointed, making this a great get-right home game for the Heat; we like them to cover.
