Grizzlies Fall To Warriors On Christmas

The Grizzlies dropped their last game, losing 123-109 to the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. Jordan Poole led the Warriors with 32 points while Klay Thompson added 24 in the win. Ja Morant scored 36 to top Memphis but no one else had more than 13 for the Grizzlies.

After going on a seven-game run, the Grizzlies have now lost three of their last four outings, primarily due to some lackluster scoring. Memphis is averaging just 103 points per game in its last three losses – a far cry from the team’s top-10 mark of 115.5 on the season.

Morant, who came out of the gate hot and scored more than 33 points per game in October, has settled down to just 24 per game in December – still leading the team but not at an MVP pace.

Suns Lose Booker And Fall To Nuggets

The Suns were handed their third straight defeat as they lost 128-125 in overtime to the Denver Nuggets on Christmas. Nikola Jokic had another masterful game for Denver with 41 points, 15 assists and 15 rebounds for a triple-double while Aaron Gordon (28 points, 13 rebounds) had his own double-double. Landry Shamet stayed hot with 31 points while Deandre Ayton (22 points, 16 rebounds) and Chris Paul (17 points, 16 rebounds) put up strong showings for Phoenix as well.

Things were made even worse for the Suns as they also lost Devin Booker, who left in the first half with a groin injury. The Suns’ leading scorer has played in eight of the team’s 13 contests this month and will also be ruled out for Tuesday’s matchup. Shamet has stepped up in recent games for Phoenix, scoring 31 points twice in his last three outings, so he may need to pick up the slack again.

Suns Player Prop: Ayton OVER 20.5 Points (-115)

Along with Shamet, Ayton will need to step it up offensively in the absence of Booker. The center has scored 20-plus in seven of his 10 appearances in December, so there’s a pretty good chance he clears the OVER in this one.

Grizzlies Player Prop: Morant OVER 27.5 Points (-115)

Morant has been hot and cold this month, scoring 25 or more in six games but 15 or less in his three other appearances. Coming up against one of the top teams in the West, he should be motivated to bring it and put up a big performance vs Phoenix.

Suns: Keys To Victory

Phoenix is missing its top scorer in Booker so pressure will be on Shamet, Ayton, Paul and Mikal Bridges to put up the points. Luckily the Suns have plenty of capable scorers, so if just two or three of them have strong nights, they’ll have a chance for the win.

Grizzlies: Keys To Victory

Memphis has hit a bit of an offensive rut of late and it’s likely on their big stars – namely Morant – to step up. With Booker out, Morant has the most star power of any player on either team and he certainly has the potential to win the game almost single-handedly.
