Suns Eye Commanding 3-0 Series Lead vs Bucks
The Phoenix Suns are 13-2 SU and 12-3 ATS over their last 15 games including a 2-0 SU and ATS start to their series against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Suns can take a stranglehold of the NBA Finals with another win on the road this Sunday night in Milwaukee.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Bucks opened as 3.5-point favorites at home in this matchup but have received enough betting support to bump the line up to Milwaukee -4. The total has remained steady over the last few days at 222 points. Phoenix is 1-4 ATS in its last five road game against the Bucks.
Phoenix News & Notes
The Suns' scoring depth has been too much to handle for opponents this postseason. Chris Paul and Devin Booker have combined to average 56.5 points per game so far in the NBA Finals while secondary scoring has come from different places. DeAndre Ayton had 22 points in Game 1 to help carry the load while it was Mikal Bridges who chipped in 27 points in Game 2. Phoenix has scored 118 points in each of the first two games of this series.
And despite how impressive their offense is, it has actually been the Suns’ defense that has been the team’s driving force this postseason. The Suns have allowed the fewest points per game during the playoffs with only 102.4 points per game surrendered and have allowed 106.5 points per game to Milwaukee thus far. This team is clicking on all cylinders, and it even received some good news on the injury front this weekend as Torrey Craig has been upgraded to probable for Sunday’s game.
Milwaukee News & Notes
Giannis Antetokounmpo outdueled Devin Booker in Game 2, leading all players on the court with 42 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant effort went to waste however as Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday combined to shoot just 12-for-37 from the floor and 2-for-9 from three point range. Brook Lopez, Middleton, and Holiday combined for only 36 total points in the loss.
Jrue Holiday is averaging just 13.5 points per game through the first two games of this series after averaging 22 points per game in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Atlanta Hawks. Milwaukee has already erased an 0-2 series deficit this postseason when it did so against the Brooklyn Nets, so there is no reason to panic just yet; but this group needs to get hot from three-point range in a hurry.
Betting Pick: Phoenix +4
It makes sense that the Bucks have been a popular bet this weekend as they are returning home and are in a must-win situation on Sunday. It wouldn’t be suprising at all to see Milwaukee get the job done in Game 3, but this Suns team has been too consistently strong and dominant to give four points to.
