Kings, Clippers Have Gone OVER in Five Straight Meetings
The Los Angeles Clippers open a three-game home stand against the Sacramento Kings tonight and will be attempting to replicate its success on the road. The Clippers, who were swept on a four-game home stand before hitting the road and winning three of four, opened as 5-point home favorites with a total of 228.5.
Kings haven’t solved Clippers yet the season
The Clippers are coming off a 106-101 triumph over Chicago on Friday that included a triple-double off the bench from guard Lou Williams. L.A. owns the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference standings, one ahead of the Kings. The Clips took the first two meetings of the campaign, including a 127-118 home victory on December 26.
Sacramento is at the end of a six-game road trip and snapped a two-game slide with a 99-96 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday. The Kings continue to raise eyebrows around the league, as Friday’s win marked only the second time this season they’ve won when scoring fewer than 100 points. Power forward Nemanja Bjelica notched his fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the contest.
Kings, Clippers have a habit of going OVER totals
OVERs have become the norm when the Clippers and Kings have gotten together lately. In the past five meetings between the Western Conference clubs, the OVER is 5-0. The OVER has also paid out in each of the Kings’ last four trips to Los Angeles.
It’s hard to find much underdog value in this series, evidenced by favorites going 5-0 ATS in the past five meetings between the clubs. In that span, the Kings have been underdogs every time and have failed to cover the spread in the process.
My pick: take the OVER
I’m banking on the aforementioned OVER trend continuing tonight and taking the OVER in this one. Sacramento has been a reliable OVER wager this season at 27-22 O/U, while the Clippers are middle of the road at 25-24 O/U. Expect to see both teams light up the scoreboard in this one and take the OVER.
