One loss sunk Notre Dame's odds of making the CFP from -360 to +360. The Irish were gifted an easy schedule and took it for granted. Purdue (+10.5), which didn't see Week 2 action, came into this meeting with extra preparation. Meanwhile, Marcus Freeman is desperate to pump his group up after their egos were deflated by Northern Illinois. The Irish haven't proved they're worthy enough of this double-digit spread. At Ross-Ade Stadium, I'll go with the Boilermakers on home soil here.

Entering last week as whopping 28-point favorites, Notre Dame tragically fell to Northern Illinois, 16-14. An easy schedule doesn't help a mediocre team. Even after Week 1's thrilling upset over Texas A&M, I wasn't impressed with the passing game. Riley Leonard hasn't tossed into the endzone yet but has been picked off twice and his 45.3 QBR isn't going to cut it.
The Irish are blatantly relying on their ground attack, with Jeremiyah Love earning 91 yards and a touchdown last week. Purdue allowed 140 rushing yards per game last season and with no threat from Notre Dame's passing force, the Boilermakers can focus all energy on shutting down the rushing effort.
Like I mentioned, Purdue appeared in Week 1 and destroyed Indiana State, 49-0. The offense put up 585 total yards with QB Hudson Card completing an elite 24-of-25 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns.
Though Notre Dame has built an eight-game win streak over Purdue, it hasn't covered a double-digit spread against them since October 2011. With an extra week to prepare, Purdue shouldn't be underestimated.

Though Notre Dame's offense is bleak, their defense tries to pick up the slack. Though they allowed 13 points in the first half last week, I think the Irish miscalculated the Huskies. A mistake they won't make twice.
While hanging 49 points on a competitor is an impressive display from the Boilermakers, it's much easier to accomplish against an FCS foe.
Notre Dame literally can't afford one more loss this year or the program can kiss the postseason goodbye. A defensive showdown awaits.
