Are Oddsmakers Setting the Cardinals' Totals Too High?
We’re only two weeks into the 2016 NFL season, but the Buffalo Bills (0-2) already have their collective fingers over the panic button. The winless Bills will look to get things back on track at home against the Arizona Cardinals (1-1) on Sunday.
The good news for Bills fans and backers alike is they’ve had Arizona’s number lately. Buffalo is 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six get-togethers with the Cards. OVER bettors have also been profiting in this matchup, as four of the last five games between the teams have gone above the closing total.
Sportsbooks opened the Bills as 4-point underdogs, with the OVER/UNDER at 47.
As a result of Arizona’s dynamic offense, oddsmakers tend to tab them with high totals. But totals bettors shouldn’t automatically assume that’s led to cashed OVER bets. Including last season, the UNDER is 7-3 in the Cardinals’ last 10 games.
The Cardinals couldn’t get the job done in the season opener versus New England, but they bounced back in a big way in Week 2 by pummeling Tampa Bay 40-7. The ageless Carson Palmer continues to sling it under center, compiling five touchdowns and 579 passing yards.
Buffalo mustered a measly seven points in Week 1’s loss to Baltimore, and their defense showed some major holes in a 37-31 setback to the division rival New York Jets last weekend. For a franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs since 1999, it’s safe to say the sky could start to fall in Buffalo if they drop this game.
