Cowboys' League-Best Run Game Meets G-Bay's League-Best Run D
Dak vs the Pack. At the start of the year, the Packers would have been the unquestioned favorite in this matchup. Now things aren’t so clear. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has led his Cowboys to a 4-1 record and has thrown 155 passes without being picked off. Not only is that good, it’s actually an NFL record. This game will be the biggest test for the Mississippi State product so far as the Dallas run game is likely not going to be as effective against Green Bay’s league-best run defense as it has been so far this season.
The two things we know coming into this matchup are this: 1. Dallas can run the ball. 2. Green Bay can stop the run. The Cowboys have rushed for a league-best 155.2 yards a game and the Packers have allowed just 42.8 rushing yards per game and have given up just 2.0 yards per carry. Dak is going to be forced to throw the ball down the field for the first time in his career on Sunday and we could be seeing that streak of passes without a pick come to an abrupt halt.
Aaron Rodgers has not quite reached Aaron Rodgers levels yet this season but he has been good enough to win. Dallas is in the bottom half of the league in passing yards allowed and has allowed opposing quarterbacks to post an average rating of 96 against them. Rodgers has combined for 507 yards and five touchdowns in his last two games against the Cowboys, during which the Packers have outscored Dallas 73-14. This game poses an excellent opportunity for Rodgers to break out.
If the Packers lose on Sunday, they will be two games back of the division-leading Vikings, making this an absolute must-win for the Cheeseheads.
