Texans Chase Elusive Win Against Chiefs
Two 1-0 teams match up in an early afternoon game Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Houston to take on the Texans in Week 2. The Texans will have their 30-0 playoff defeat at the hands of the Chiefs fresh in their memories as they’ve played just one game since their trouncing in KC.
Things were looking grim for the Chiefs in their Week 1 matchup when they went down 24-3 to the San Diego Chargers and it wasn’t until Keenan Allen went down with a torn ACL that they were able to get back into it. They did, however, come all the way back to force overtime and eventually won the game on their first drive in quarter No. 5.
The Chargers were not expected to be good this year so the slow start from the Chiefs will be concerning for Andy Reid and the coaching staff but remember, KC began 2015 1-5 and went on to win their next 10 games in a row to finish the season 11-5. The one win the Chiefs earned in their first six last year actually came against the Texans, whom they’ve beaten the last three times they’ve met.
Brock Osweiler is now at the helm of the Texans and looked perfectly serviceable in his first game calling the signals for Houston as he went 22 of 35 for 231 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. The Texans, however, have answered wins with less than adequate performances recently and are 2-5 against the spread in home games after wins at NRG Stadium.
OVER/UNDER bettors could have a field day with this game as the total has gone O in all of the Chiefs’ last six games in the Sportsbook month of NFL action.
