Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Raiders opened as a 2.5-point road favorite and have since settled in at Las Vegas -3. The total has moved down to 46.5 points after Sportsbook at 47.5 earlier in the week. The UNDER is 6-0 in New York’s last six games against AFC opponents.

Las Vegas News & Notes

The Raiders were once again in the headlines for off-field issues this week as wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a DUI vehicle crash that resulted in the death of the other driver.

Ruggs faces multiple felony charges for his involvement and was released by the Raiders shortly after the news broke. The former first-round pick led the team in receiving yards with 469 through seven games at the time of his release.

With all of the negative press surrounding the team between this incident and Jon Gruden’s recent firing, it’s easy to overlook the fact that Las Vegas is in the middle of a 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS season that has the Raiders in sole possession of first place in the AFC West.

Derek Carr is enjoying a fantastic season with 2,269 passing yards and 12 passing touchdowns and the Raiders have won both of their last two games by double digits.

New York News & Notes

After suffering back-to-back blowout losses of 44-20 to the Dallas Cowboys and 38-11 to the Los Angeles Rams to fall to 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS on the year, it looked as though the Giants’ season was spinning out of control.

But New York has bounced back with two straight solid performances, crushing the Carolina Panthers 25-3 as 3-point home underdogs and losing 20-17 on the road to the Kansas City Chiefs as 10.5-point underdogs.

Sterling Shepard is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Kenny Golladay and Saquon Barkley are both listed as questionable, though Barkley’s chances of returning took a hit Wednesday morning when the running back tested positive for COVID-19. He would need two negative tests in 24 hours to offset this positive test and be eligible to play Sunday.

How Las Vegas Will Cover

The Raiders have been playing great this season and have had a bye week to prepare for this Giants team. The betting public still doesn’t seem to be a believer in Las Vegas at only -3, but a similar effort to the last two we’ve seen from the Raiders should be enough for a win and cover.

How New York Will Cover

New York’s defense has played at a high level over the last two weeks. If Kenny Golladay returns, that could provide a huge boost to the offense. As long as the Giants defense is able to keep Derek Carr and the Raiders in check, New York will have a shot at an upset at home.
