Vikings Have Had a Case of the Mondays in MNF
The Minnesota Vikings (3-0) and New York Giants (2-1) have enjoyed solid starts to the 2016 NFL season, and the G-men will try to hand Minny its first loss when the squads collide in the Week 4 edition of Monday Night Football.
Books opened Minnesota as 4-point home faves for the affair with an OVER/UNDER of 43.5. The spread may appeal to Vikings bettors, as Minnesota is 7-1 SU and ATS in its last eight games as a favorite of four points or less.
But bettors need to take note of the Vikings’ awful record in MNF. In Minnesota’s previous seven Monday Night Football appearances, they’re a brutal 0-7 SU and ATS.
The Giants, who fell to the archrival Washington Redskins in Week 3, are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games after losing as faves. New York closed as 3.5-point chalk in that tilt.
When Teddy Bridgewater was lost for the campaign in August, the sky appeared to be falling in Minneapolis. Even though it was mocked at the time, the acquisition of Sam Bradford has paid major dividends for the club. Bradford has looked comfortable under center for the Vikes, as the Oklahoma product has three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 107.8 quarterback rating through two games.
New York had the Redskins right where they wanted them last weekend, but Eli Manning turned the ball over twice in the final frame to let the ’Skins leave NYC with their first victory. The Giants’ improved defense looked mediocre in that game, but there’s no reason for worry in the Empire State just yet. This is an improved team by a large margin, and the Giants could be one of the best early-season value plays in the league.
