Seahawks are a Miserable Bet in October
The New York Jets (1-2) put forth an embarrassing performance in Week 3’s 24-3 setback to the Kansas City Chiefs, but the gang green have an opportunity to get back in the winning column when they host the Seattle Seahawks (2-1) in Week 4.
The Seahawks, who are traditionally slow starters, have been especially struggling in the month of October. In Seattle’s last seven October contests, they’re a miserable 1-5-1 ATS.
It’s hard to find optimism in New York right now, but Jets fans and backers alike can take solace in the fact that they’ve dominated Seattle in the Big Apple. Seattle is 0-5 SU in its last five trips to New York.
Just how bad were the J-E-T-S against the Chiefs? Starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw six interceptions and was 20-for-44 while managing just 188 yards in the air. New York failed to get any points in the red zone despite being there four times, and their three-point showing was the franchise’s worst since October of 2014. Yikes.
Seattle got back on track last weekend, as Pete Carroll’s crew trounced San Francisco 37-18. The Seahawks were coming off an embarrassing 9-3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and they silenced any critics who said the offense was broken.
The biggest question mark for this bunch will be the health of Russell Wilson. Wilson left the game in the third quarter with a leg injury. Carroll told reporters Wilson sprained his knee “a little bit.” The 27-year-old was already battling an ankle injury, but it takes a lot to keep him down. Wilson hasn’t missed a single start in his five-year career.
