It's an Original Six matchup in the Motor City with the Chicago Blackhawks facing the Detroit Red Wings. I'm jumping on the Red Wings wagon who've won five straight and have beaten these Hawks in their last four meetings. My pick is taking these surging Red Wings on the moneyline at -185 odds from BetMGM.

Blackhawks vs Red Wings Picks
Red Wings ML (-185) at BetMGM
The vibes are great in Detroit after the appointment of Todd McLeland, they've won five straight games now and are knocking on the door of the Wild Card spots in the East being four points back of the final spot with two games in hand.
The Red Wings are winning thanks to every aspect of their game humming. The offense has scored an average of four goals per game with Dylan Larkin scoring five, you can get +160 odds on a Larkin anytime goal at BetMGM. And between the pipes, goalie Alex Lyon has done phenomenally well, holding a 0.929 save percentage and 1.80 goals against average in his last four starts. Lyon might be injured now, but Cam Talbot has done well enough with a 0.913 save percentage in his last start.
Despite getting a 3-1 win over the Avalanche in their last game, I have no faith in the Blackhawks. The Hawks were lucky in that win, as evidenced by their 112.5 PDO. They also faced the Avs' fourth-string goalie Trent Miner who was only playing in his second NHL game, and Colorado was missing eight bodies to injury. Regardless of those massive advantages, the Hawks were outshot (36-20) and out-chanced with only 45% of the xG.
The Red Wings should have no issues getting the win over Chicago tonight.
Blackhawks vs Red Wings Player Prop
Alex DeBrincat O0.5 Points (-175) at BetMGM
Per Outlier, Alex DeBrincat has at least one point in five straight games, averaging 1.6 points in that span. I'll take him at -175 odds from BetMGM to score at least one point against his former team.
On top of being as hot as his team, DeBrincat has been sticking it to the Blackhawks since they traded him back in 2022 with six points in five games against his former team, hitting OVER 0.5 points four times. Now that his Red Wings are surging I expect Brinksy to stick it to his former clubs one more time with at least one point tonight.
