Ice has Been Tilted in Penguins' Favor During 6-Game Streak
Mike Sullivan has his team worked up into a lather right now and they are starting to absolutely dominate. The Penguins are coming off a 7-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes in a game they were the -330 favorites on the moneyline. That win extended Pittsburgh’s streak to six games – tied for the second-longest streak during Sullivan’s tenure. The Pens will look to keep their winning sticks on the ice this evening when they host a Bruins team that’s coming off an impressive win over the Canadiens.
The big three in Pittsburgh are basically unstoppable right now and have combined for 30 points during the Pens’ current six-game win streak. This is the Penguins team that I and most hockey pundits were expecting this year but it’s taken a bit of time for them to break into their full Usain Bolt stride. I pity any team that crosses their path right now.
For the Bruins, Tuukka Rask has been a man who’s stopped plenty of hot teams this year and is fresh off a 31-save winning performance against a Habs team that had scored 10 in its most recent game. In line for the start tonight, the Finn will look to build on his success against the Penguins that’s seen him go 7-1-1 in his last nine starts against Pittsburgh, including a current 3-0 run in which Rask has a .972 save percentage.
It’s always tough to gauge how a team will deal with a tendy that has traditionally given them trouble but considering Rask has given up three or more goals in three of his last four starts, Boston could be in tough against the most lethal offense in hockey.
