The Philadelphia Flyers get their season underway as +150 road dogs per BET99. Meanwhile, the Vancouver Canucks are comfy home favorites at -175. The total is set at 6.5 goals with the UNDER slightly favored with -115 odds to -105 for the OVER.
Neither the moneyline nor the spread is enticing enough for me. But Philly to cover the +1.5 puckline at -160 is interesting considering the Flyers' strong record in this situation last year.

Flyers vs Canucks Picks Tonight
Flyers +1.5 (-160)
Our friends at BET99 have set the Flyers puckline at -160 for tonight's game, and I'm jumping all over that line. Let me explain why I like this particular bet.
First, as I alluded, the Flyers have a strong record on the puckline. Last year, the Flyers were 29-11 (73%) vs the puckline on the road. When they were at least -145 road dogs (like they are tonight), they held an 11-2 record (85%) on the puckline.
Philadelphia keeps every game close. That's what happens in a John Tortorella system built on outworking the opposition, blocking a ton of shots, and giving nothing for free. That's why Philadelphia had the fourth-most games decided by a single goal in 23-24 at 19.
For Vancouver, I don't trust them to win by two or more. They earned my mistrust in their season opener against the Flames. The Canucks, who were -200 on the moneyline, lost 6-5 in OT to a Flames team that should finish the season at the bottom of the league standings. Against a better Flyers team, I don't trust Vancouver to win comfortably.
Flyers vs Canucks Prop Bet: Matvei Michkov O0.5 Points (-110)
I loved what I saw from Matvei Michkov in the pre-season. The young Russian forward scored three goals and seven points in four games. So I'm taking BET99's -110 odds for Michkov to score at least one point.

Michkov will get a lot of opportunities to create offense tonight. He's slated to play on the top line next to Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny and will play on the Flyers' first power play unit. Again, we've seen his quality in prep games with two shots per game and the second-highest ixG at 1.7 along with those seven points.
We don't have any NHL data on him but we know what he's done playing against men in Russia's top league. As a 17 and 18-year-old Michkov scored 61 points in 74 games. He is a star in the making and we'll see his quality shine tonight in Vancouver as he gets on the scoresheet in his first game.
