Lightning Doesn’t Strike in Pittsburgh
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to post back-to-back wins for the first time since February 3 and 5 Saturday, but they’ll have to do it in a city that has not been kind to them in recent visits.
The Lightning, currently +106 in moneyline markets at online shop Sportsbook, have lost their previous nine regular season visits to Pittsburgh with their last win coming on March 31, 2010 and with the Pens on fire at home recently, Saturday afternoon doesn’t bode well for the Bolts.
The Penguins have won seven of their last eight home games heading into Saturday’s meeting and thumped the Detroit Red Wings 6-3 in their last game on Thursday. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby recorded an empty-net goal and an assist against the Wings to end a personal three-game scoreless drought. Despite the slump, Crosby has still managed 14 points in eight games in the month of February.
A silver lining for Tampa backers is that the Lightning have won the previous two meetings between the teams this season, including a 6-3 victory back on February 5.
